Cristina Arantes (a.k.a. Kika) was born in the tropics of Brazil, where she spent her days baking and eating chocolate -- not surprising considering Brazil is the world's third-largest producer of cacao. What is a delightful surprise is her singular take on sweets, infusing traditional Brazilian flavors into modern cookies, confections, and cakes. Uncompromising in her commitment to use local and natural ingredients, Kika also gives back to her San Francisco community by donating 5% of net profits to La Cocina, the incubator program that helped her get started.
